Heartland Village is a well populated neighborhood, located in the center of Staten Island. Its boundries are set by Richmond Ave and Forest Hill Ave (from west to east), and Rockland Ave to Richmond Hill Road (from north to south). The area offers many choices of residential properties, including numerous condominium apartments, townhomes, as well as one and two family semi-attached and detached homes. Most or the properties in the area were built after the Verrazano Narrows Bridge was opened in the 1960's. The area condominium developments are located along Richmond Hill Road, and they included apartment towers, as well as two and three-level townhouses. Heartland Village also has a high concentration of shops and shopping centers. Recent additions to its retail mix include Trader Joe's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Retro Fitness, and other. The area is well served by a number of local and express buses along Richmond Ave and Travis Ave.
